Faragher&Co.
The Faragher&Co. web site was a hugely ambitious Magento build. The client required features beyond the scope of Magento Community Edition which resulted in integration with several third party softwares and a plethora of custom programming to deliver a web site above and beyond expectations.
With Faragher&Co. being a watch retailer we were keen to incorporate product brand manufacturers and allow users to search and navigate via these brands. This presented us with the task of finding a solution which made the site easy to navigate even though we were to be adding a whole extra level of navigation. Not only that, but each brand was to have an individual information page too.
We provided an elegant solution of expanding the navigation drop down menus reducing the number of clicks between a customer and the watch they’re looking to purchase.
In addition to this we did a lot of research and produced a totally bespoke product page – totally removed from the Magento default. On this product page we included a ‘Product Questions’ module – allowing customers to easily ask questions about a product before buying. All of which is manageable via the Magento admin panel. We also integrated product reviews into this page – saving the user from another page reload to find out whether other customers like the product. There’s also a custom price match guarantee form and social media integration through YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
The shopping basket has also been highly optimised to make the process as straight-forward as possible based on the Faragher&Co. user demographic.
On top of this, we ensured all of the web site content, from blog posts to sale callouts is easily editable by the client via Magento extensions and static blocks.
As with all of our Magento builds the performance of Faragher&Co. has been highly analyzed and fine-tuned. Files and data are served from separate clusters allowing each to focus resources towards specified processes. Media is served down separate routes to best avoid browser connection limits (typically 4 simultaneous channels) and cached remotely to reduce the number of ‘wasted’ repeat requests. We have also used various benchmark tools to focus on reducing the ‘thinking time’ of each data request and utilise software such as memcache alongside Magento to remember popular queries.
