Fork Truck Control

Based in Leicestershire, FTC are a team of experts with years of experience in helping businesses improve the efficiency and safety levels of their fork truck fleets. We’ve been working with FTC for 6 years now. We built their first site in 2015 and helped them expand their market to new customers. In 2020 it was time to redesign the original site with some modern technologies to help improve website management.

Website redesign

Having created the original site we were very familiar with the content and the goals the site needs to achieve, so we could focus on the redesign and refining the user journey.

One of the key areas for improvement was to make more of an impact with the homepage hero. Previously we had a static image of the fork truck they use across a lot of social media channels. We suggested using some new video that had recently been shot of their products in action with a strong message over the top.

A major part of the work we produce for FTC is their product brochures, so we carried some new design elements over that had been created since the original website design to bring consistency between the website and marketing material. This included the site headings with bold orange backgrounds behind the page title and breadcrumbs, the subtle yellow benefit containers, consistent product hero images and much more.

In the original site design the brand orange was used sparingly, mainly for buttons and links, this led to us using more dark sections. This time we opted to revert to their brand guidlines and use the brand colour more front and centre. As you scroll down pages and move around the site you’ll see full width sections contrasting with subtle grey tones to make the site feel much lighter.

To achieve this new design we utilised everything Elementor had to offer, which helped us build the site whilst lowering costs for FTC. It also meant that the site would be much easier for FTC staff to create and manage content going forward.

The fun stuff

FTC’s leading product is Optafleet, a product which provides a huge amount of value and control to their customers. We wanted to do something special for this key product page, so we created a gif to showcase the app that customers use and also an interactive image to showcase the different features and benefits of the products.

Website maintenance and support

We continue to support the site through regular updates to ensure the site is kept secure and has the latest features WordPress, Elementor and all the other plugins have to offer. We work closely with FTC staff with regards to training to use the site.

Website Performance

With all our sites we aim to achieve the best performance where possible. To achieve this whilst using WordPress and Elementor we developed our own internal hybrid theme to harness the power of these platforms whilst not having a lot of code bloat slowing the site down that you often find in a lot of themes.

Graphic design services

The first work we did for FTC was for print, and our graphic design service continues to take up the majority of time spent. Considering their products topped 30 at the last count, each has their own brochure, plus range brochures and more recently, versions of product brochures but tailored to the new market – for the construction industry.

Email campaigns and point-of-sale material add to the portfolio and soon to be launched their first online shop.

Our long term relationship with the FTC team makes us proud. It’s a great example of knowing your customer, being proactive with targeted ideas and seeing over time how our efforts have contributed to the company’s growth.
