We’ve been creating email newsletters for many years now, they’re a great way of getting targeted business information or promotions out to the customers of your choice.
Recently ’email authentication’ has become extremely important when sending out newsletters. Having your emails authenticated means that the email the customer is receiving is actually coming from your business. It drastically improves your deliverability and adds credibility to your brand.
Various email providers such as Outlook, Gmail, iCloud use email authentication to detect spam, if your email is being sent unauthenticated it runs the risk of ending up in your recipients’ spam folder.
How to manage your own authentication
The most common way to authenticate your domain is via DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) which is a DNS based method to help detect an email’s authenticity.
There are other ways you can set up authentication. You can use SPF or DMARC. They are slightly more complicated so we suggest if you are going to do it, go down the DKIM route.
