Modernising a LearnDash Education Hub for Multi-State Insurance Credits

Challenges

The project required decisive improvements mid-stream, without disrupting the underlying course architecture:

  • A mid-project redesign under pressure: The site had functional foundations in place, but the client was unhappy with the visuals, interface clarity, and usability. The work needed to correct the experience quickly while keeping delivery on track.
  • Trust signals were underrepresented: The platform needed to feel credible and human, with stronger reassurance for learners purchasing education credits.
  • Certificates required more than branding: Certificates needed to act as compliant proof of completion, including state-specific credit limits and legally appropriate wording.
  • The platform needed a clear growth path: Initial delivery covered New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Washington, but the structure had to support expansion into additional states as the business scales.

The Solution

Design & Development

A refreshed design system was implemented to improve clarity and confidence across the learning journey:

  • Modernised interface styling across the LearnDash experience to address usability concerns and improve consistency
  • A broader, more intentional application of the existing teal palette, giving the platform a clearer identity and more polished navigation cues
  • Introduction of real people imagery and authentic user testimonials to add trust, warmth, and credibility
  • Use of the existing company logo as a watermark texture element, breaking up flat grey and white panels and adding subtle brand presence without visual clutter

This approach improved both the visual tone and the perceived legitimacy of the platform, while keeping the focus on course discovery and completion.

Website Features

LearnDash Delivery for Multi-State Credits

The platform was implemented on LearnDash to support structured insurance education delivery:

  • Courses designed to support the CE credit journey for multiple states
  • A consistent user experience tailored to learning flow, progression, and completion expectations

Custom Certificate System

A key requirement was to ensure completion documents were both branded and compliant:

  • Activation and configuration of a custom certificate capability that existed but had not been implemented in the earlier build
  • Certificates branded with company logos to ensure professional presentation
  • State-specific certificate messaging added for each initial rollout state, ensuring certificates reflect:
  • Credit limits per state
  • Legal and regulatory messaging appropriate to New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Washington

Certificates now serve as credible proof of completion, aligned to the requirements learners expect when submitting evidence of CE activity.

Technical Implementation

  • WordPress platform built around LearnDash as the course delivery engine
  • Certificate system configured to output branded documents with variable messaging and structure per state
  • Design enhancements applied across templates and components while retaining LearnDash compatibility and future extensibility

Results

The revised build addressed the client’s concerns and delivered a stronger experience without restarting the project:

  • A modernised UI and visual system that resolved dissatisfaction with the original look and usability
  • Improved credibility through real-user testimonials, people-focused imagery, and subtle brand texture elements
  • A functional, branded, and state-aware certificate system aligned to legal messaging for the initial rollout states
  • A platform structure suitable for planned expansion into additional U.S. states

Conclusion

American Frontier’s LearnDash hub demonstrates how a project can be redirected mid-build without losing momentum – provided the redesign focuses on the elements that most directly affect clarity, trust, and compliance. By modernising the interface, strengthening the brand presence, and implementing a robust certificate system with state-specific messaging, the platform is now positioned to support immediate delivery across three states and scale smoothly as demand grows.
